Built in the late 1700’s for a Spanish colonial diplomat, House on Bayou Road Inn welcomes guests with its West Indies Creole charm. The petite plantation is set on two lush acres and features inviting antique-filled rooms, a pool and hot tub, relaxing screened porches, and true Southern charm.

The B&B is the setting for one of New Orleans’ most exciting cooking schools, featuring authentic Creole cooking and highly personalized hands-on classes. The teaching staff is composed of some of New Orleans’ top chefs and food personalities.

Thursday

Afternoon arrival and check in at The House on Bayou Road, named one of the best places to stay in the South.

Dinner tonight at Brigsten’s where you will taste the genius of Chef Frank Brigsten, winner of numerous honors and awards, including Chef of the Year and the James Beard award.

Friday

Enjoy a full New Orleans breakfast served plantation style at the B&B.

Time to explore New Orleans on your own before taking a unique food history walking tour of the city, discovering the city's culinary heritage on foot.

5:30 pm cooking class at the B&B’s professional kitchen with your chef-instructor. The lessons will focus on classic New Orleans Creole with a little Cajun. Some of the dishes you may prepare include seafood gumbo, shrimp bisque, shrimp etouffee, trout meuniere, eggs sardou, bread pudding, pecan pie, café au lait crème brulee. Dinner follows the lesson.




Saturday

Plantation breakfast, followed by a midday cooking class and lunch.

Late afternoon and dinner on your own.
