In the Basque country of Spain there is a unique tradition called the Txokos…a kind of gastronomic brotherhood. Here, members meet regularly to cook together and devote themselves to the pleasure of eating and drinking. Women and other honored guests are only allowed to visit at certain times of the year. Unless, that is, you are a part of Epiculinary's tour to Northern Spain.

Our four day discovery will take you to a typical txokos in San Sebastian, where you will learn to prepare traditional Basque dishes in a hands-on cooking lesson. You'll also experience the nightlife of San Sebastian on a guided tapas tour. A visit to the stunning Gugenheim museum completes the gastronomic getaway.




Day One

Arrival in San Sebastian and check in at the beautiful Hotel de Londres e Inglaterra, overlooking Concha Bay.

For dinner enjoy a guided tapas tour, trying some of the sophisticated pintxos for which San Sebastian is famous. Tapas are not just a casual way of eating but also and above all, a way of having a good time, the opportunity of meeting other people, and at the same time, indulging yourself with good food and wine.

Overnight San Sebastian.

Day Two

Morning cooking lesson at Sociedad Gastronomica, located in the old center of the city. Lunch follows based on what you've prepared accompanied by local wine.

Dinner on your own.San Sebastian has the highest per capita rate of Michelin starred restaurants of any European city. This is a great opportunity to visit some of the most famous in Spain!

Overnight San Sebastian.

Day Three

Transfer to Bilbao by private car with chauffer. Bilbao is the economic center of Basque country and home to the spectacular Guggenheim Museum. Explore the town and museum.

Lunch is on your own. You might consider having lunch at the museum restaurant which is directed by one of Spain's most brilliant young chefs.

Back to San Sebastian. Afternoon free.

Dinner on your own.

Buffet breakfast at hotel and departure.
