Emilia Romagna is one of Italy's great gastronomic regions. Many of the classic Italian dishes originate here, from parmigiano reggiano to prosciutto di Parma to balsamic vinegar. Much of what is considered to be fine Italian cooking comes from this region because the chefs who worked in the noble courts of Bologna, Parma and Ferrara.
We invite you to learn and taste the classic Italian cuisine of Emilia Romagna on a three night culinary getaway to Parma. You will learn to cook classic regional dishes in hands-on cooking lessons, visit a Parmesan cheese factory and learn all about the delightful city of Parma.
Arrival on your own at the Palace Hotel Maria Luigia, a four-star superior hotel located in the heart of historic Parma. The evening is yours to explore the restaurants and nightlife of the city.
Morning transfer to the Magnani Rocca Foundation, where from March to November you will have your first cooking lesson. (From December to February the lessons take place at the hotel.) Some of the dishes you may prepare include tortelli d'erbetta, filetto di vitello avvolto con prosciutto al'aceto balsamico, contorni di stagione, and dolce della casa. Lunch follows the lesson.
Afternoon visit of the museum.
The remainder of the afternoon and evening are free.
Morning visit of Parmesan cheese factory where you will see the long and arduous process of making parmigiano reggiano, one of the finest cheeses in the world.
Morning cooking lesson featuring dishes such as risotto alla parmigiana, punta di vitello ripiena, contorni di stagione, dolce della casa. Lunch after the lesson.
Afternoon guided tour of Parma.
