Your guide for the week is an American landscape designer living in Florence who has a true passion for the Italian landscape combined

with an interest in the history of Italian Gardens . You'll explore these gardens and also enjoy the passion of cooking with one of the city's top chefs.

Your accommodations for the week are in a four star hotel, located in the heart of historic Florence. There will also be some free time to explore and

shop on your own.



Monday

Arrival at Florence airport and transfer to the 4 star hotel in the historic centre near Ponte Vecchio. Meeting with the private guide that will escort the guests during the tour . Welcome dinner in a special restaurant in the historic centre.

Tuesday

 

Full day guided tour of the marvellous private gardens in Florence : Villa Gamberaia in Settignano , renowned for its splendid gardens, which are celebrated throughout the world by leading landscape architects and garden historians (the cypress allée, bowling green, nymphaeum, grotto garden, boschi, parterre and lemon terrace).

Villa Medici in Fiesole, one of the oldest Renaissance residences with a garden that is also one of the best preserved garden on three terraces. The first of these, at the end of an avenue lined with cypress trees that runs underneath a holm-oak wood, has large rectangular lawns with potted lemon trees. The second terrace is overlooked by the rear of the building and is reached by an indoor staircase. This, the least heavily altered part of the garden, has flower beds lined with box hedges with a large fountain in the centre, and is laid out in the shade of large magnolia trees. The third terrace, created between 1911 and 1923 by Cecil Pinsent and Geoffrey Scott, is laid out in the Italian style, with a fine pergola positioned mid-way between the two levels. Time at leisure for lunch .

In the morning cooking lesson and lunch ( hands on cooking lesson with the chef of one the best restaurant in Florence ) .

Thursday

In the morning meeting with your hostess for a visit to the local food market. The colorful food and flower markets of Florence overflow with the abundance of the region's gardens.

Lunch in a Osteria.

in the afternoon, guided visit of the Giardini Medicei di Castello and Pietraia

Cooking lesson and lunch Time at leisure in the afternoon
