In the heart of Provence is an ancient abbey which has served as a refuge since the 9th century. Abbaye de Sainte Croix has a long history of welcoming those seeking safety and retreat. Today it is an elegant hotel and a member of the prestigious Relais and Chateaux group. It still welcomes travelers seeking rest and relaxation along with the best of Provencal cuisine. Nestled in a large, wooded estate the Abbaye is perfectly situated between the Alpilles and Luberon. Its 25 rooms are located in the former cells of the Benedictine monks and each bear the name of a saint. Antique furniture, Provencal fabrics and white stone walls give a special atmosphere to each room.
The Abbaye is especially known for its restaurant, having won a 'restaurant gastronomique' label in 1987 and consistantly rated in the best guide books. This is where Chef Jeremy Picanol works his culinary magic, offering a unique cuisine which is modern yet based on traditional Provencal recipes. Chef Jeremy leads hands-on cooking lessons which you will enjoy in the abbey kitchen.

After breakfast, enjoy a three hour cooking lesson with Chef Jeremy. Pascal MOREL's cuisine remains very traditional although tinged with savours which are purely Provençal.This is because his carte uses many local products including most especially olive oil, certain Mediterranean fish, lamb and — of course - herbes de Provence.
The lesson is followed by lunch based on what you've prepared in the kitchen. Afterwards you may go by bike or car to our specially arranged wine tasting featuring some of the surprising and wonderful wines of Provence.
