It was once known as the Valley of the Kings…The Loire Valley, a lush region where some of the world's finest chateaus line the banks of the Loire, Cher and Indre rivers. It is here during the 16th century that kings built magnificent castles and chateaus. The temperate climate and gentle landscape offered the perfect backdrop for their architectural masterpieces.

Also known as the "Garden of France," The Loire Valley grows lush with fresh vegetables and fruit, along with fish and game, and of course, world class wine. From the mushrooms of Saumer to the white asparagus grown in sandy soil along the Loire, the region offers its chefs a delightful bounty on which to base their recipes. The Loire's unique cellars provide delights for the palate--Chinon, Vouvray, Sancerre, and the many other distinctive Loire valley wines blend wonderfully with regional cuisine.

What better way to explore the cultural and cuisine of the Loire Valley than by bike? You will travel down pastoral lanes, past majestic chateaux, and beautiful vineyards to discover first hand the delights of the area. In the kitchen, local chefs will lead you in hands-on cooking lessons as you learn about one of France's purest cuisines. Your accommodations are in four-star chateau hotels.
